Standard Studio in collaboration with Joyce Kelder, transformed office building ‘Hermes City Plaza’ into a residential building with 218 student houses. Each year the Erasmus University program houses their freshman year students in the student houses.Standard Studio have designed the Hermes City Plaza Student Housing in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, that were inspired by the tiny house movement. The challenge for them was to turn a 193 square foot (18m2) space into a complete home for a student. The complex is called Hermes City Plaza and is located in the center of Rotterdam, near the city hall, in a strategic position chosen specifically to facilitate the movement of students on Erasmus and beyond.
Standard Studio was commissioned to turn an old office building into student housing consisting of 218 self-contained apartments. With little available floorspace to work with, the firm drew .
